When the preliminary studies were concluded, it became evident that detailed mapping of chromite ocurrence in the Tocantins Complex was necessary. The mode of ocurrence, the relationships to the rock, texture, mineralogy, and the available chemical analyses characterize the ocurrence as pediform type. Commercially, the chromite might he useable for manufacture of chemicals or refractories. The inferred reserves total a few thousands of tons. Nevertheless, since platinum metals are associated with the chromite, it is possible that a platinum by product might be recoverable.
