The Mossoró municipality, in Rio Grande do Norte state, presents constant transformation of its landscape, due its economic dynamics, its social contradictions and the consequent impacts on the physical and biotic environment. Therefore, this study aims to map the natural hazards of the region, through a data collection of the local pedology characteristics and by the intersection of these data with the natural vulnerability to generate the natural risk map. Were classified and described four classes of degree of risk. It is worth noting the absence of zero risk class. The natural risk class with the largest area was moderate (69.26%), which has soils with moderate deviations and should be explored with caution. The natural risk classes high and very high appear in lower percentage, 2.46% and 3.13%, respectively. Thus, the area studied, in general, allows use for various intensive purposes, but there are areas that require efficient management of their conditions of instability.
