Avaliação da qualidade dos recursos hídricos superficiais no alto curso da bacia hidrográfica do córrego Campo Alegre – Goiás
Abstract
Water is an indispensable renewable natural resource to the life and to economic and industrial activities. This study aimed to assess the water quality of Campo Alegre creek based on the analysis of physic-chemical parameters. The Córrego Campo Alegre basin an important water source for public supplying in the municipality of Campo Alegre de Goiás, located in the basin of the Veríssimo River, in the southern sub-basin of the Paranaíba River. The evaluation of the physical and chemical parameters of water samples collected in the dry and rainy periods showed seasonal differences in the geochemical composition of the water, with a tendency of increasing in the ion concentrations in the rainy season, probably associated to the soil surface runoff. Despite this, all water samples from both stations fall within the limits established by CONAMA 357/05 for Class II. The multivariate statistical analysis of the dataset identified the main controlling processes of the water quality of Córrego Campo Alegre, either from natural origin (weathering and soil leaching) or anthropogenic (agricultural activity). This study will serve as a basis for the future monitoring of this water body and for the understanding of alteration processes on the water chemical compositions under farming and agriculture activity context.
